AstonMartins.com 10th Birthday

It's hard to believe but this website has been in existence for 10 years. So to celebrate the 10th birthday, I've got plenty of revised pages and new pictures to delight you with. Can I take this opportunity to thank every visitor for your support, without you, it wouldn't be so much fun.

DBAR 1, 2 litre Monoposto, DB4GT Special, Headlam Coupe, V550 Supercharged Vantage, V600 Supercharged Vantage, V8 Vantage Roadster, DB9 Volante, Gaydon V8 Vantage, Vanquish S, DB2/4 Mark II Fixed Head Coupe

So much has changed in 10 years, digital SLR's have replaced the film cameras, high-speed broadband has replaced the old dial up (I was stuck with that for 7 years) and little by little my knowledge has increased along with my photographic skills. BUT throughout the last 10 years, I've stuck to one very basic principle - that is wherever possible, to only use pictures I have taken myself. I've been very fortunate to have seen almost all of the key cars that AM have made, seen a new factory open and two others close, witnessed AM competing and winning again at Le Mans and travelled widely too. And for all those key cars I'm yet see photograph, I'll no doubt spend the rest of my life catching up with them one by one. It's a hell of a challenge, but someone's got to do it

I bet your thinking that I have added lots of pages this week. Well I've had to spend lots of time at my work in the evenings whilst we have had renovations. Now this website receives lots of hits but some parts are far more popular than others. Despite all the hard work I put into the section covering PreWar Astons, it's the least popular section. This is a real shame as the first Astons are really terribly interesting and they set a standard still followed by the company today. Anyway, I have added and revised many pages in the pre-war section recently with new pictures and everything including...... Razor Blade, T-type tourer, B&M side valves, (second series) Le Mans

World Exclusive

Have you ever seen a Virage like this before? Well nether had I until I was sent this picture over a week ago. It's one example of many special and secret cars built by Works Service in the 1990's for a wealthy customer in South East Asia. Full details of these cars will feature in a new book due for publication in late 2006 and written by a friend of mine called David Dowsey.

David has very kindly allowed me to share just a few of the secrets of his book, Aston Martin - Power, Beauty, Soul on this website.

For the first time, I have been able to list and categorise a whole collection of special bodied cars that AM themselves have never officially described or promoted. I can only give brief details at this stage and the pictures just show a blanked outline, but you will get the idea.

And if you want to comment on these pages, I'd love to hear from you.
