Aston Martin Virage Volante
(V8 Volante styling by Works Service)
(1997 ?)

I have only seen this Dutch registered Virage Volante once. It was parked at a hotel very close to Newport Pagnell in 2005. Initially I thought that it was going to the AMOC St. Georges day parade at Windsor, but I was mistaken. Even though I was at a gathering of in excess of 300 Astons, I didn't see the car again that day.

I presume that this is a Works Service conversion as the request of a customer (notice the WS coachbuilt badge on the grille), but then again, it potentially could also be a prototype although I doubt it. On first glance, it appears to be a long chassis V8 Volante but it is not. Despite having the characteristic front of the long chassis, it  has retained the VW sourced rear lights of the Virage, standard wheelbase, the later style Virage 17 inch wheels, CX type door mirrors, older door handles and square indicator repeaters. But one-off special or prototype, it just shows that no Aston is ever 'standard'.
