Aston Martin Virage Lynx Turbo (1995 / 2002)

At first glance, this is just a limited edition coupe, chassis number 50413 in fact - and that is exactly what you are supposed to think. But close inspection shows a revised front air dam and bespoke larger diameter six spoke alloy wheels.

The owner, dissatisfied with the 349 bhp of the standard car first took it to RS Williams to have the engine taken out to 7 litres capacity.

Still dissatisfied, the car went to Lynx Motors International who in an effort to produce more power added a turbocharger. Of course, the suspension, 4 speed automatic transmission and brakes were also uprated.

Now you may need to sit down as the result is possibly the most powerful road going Aston Martin ever. Would you believe with the boost turned up to maximum 14 psi, this Aston Martin produces 720 bhp. What is more, the peak tourque figure is 1090 lb ft @ 3500 rpm - compare this to the Vantage V600's figure of 600ib ft @ 4000 rpm.

Goodness knows what it all cost, but during 2004 I did see that the car was for sale at a fraction of what the owner had spent on it - £89,950 - a supercar bargain.
