Aston Martin Limited Edition Coupe (1994)

By 1994, the DB7 was about to become available and the stylish Volante and powerful Vantage appeared more attractive to buyers than the standard Virage. This was a problem as some Virage chassis remained unused. Thus the Limited Edition Coupe was unveiled at the 1994 Birmingham Motor Show in an attempt to move the last few cars. Finished in dark metallic 'British Racing' green, this handsome coupe is easily distinguished by a one-off V shaped chrome grille. The interior is trimmed with saddle brown Connolly hide matched to beige and green leather for the roof lining and interior door trims. Instead of burr walnut, there is extensive use of burr elm on the instrument and and fascia panels. A brass plate is affixed to the fascia panel with the chassis number and name of the first owner.

The engine is based on the standard 48 valve V8 Virage unit but with a more efficient design of the 32 valve cylinder heads (sometimes described as 'Vantage cylinder heads') designed to give an extra 20bhp (a total of 349bhp) together with a  reduction in emissions. The Limited Edition Coupe was available with either a 5 speed manual or 4 speed automatic transmission at a cost of £137,500. In all, a total of nine cars were built.

The particular example, number 6, was uniquely finished in Porsche Midnight Blue with contrasting blue-piped parchment hide interior. External features include 6.3 style wide wings, 18 inch OZ spilt-rim wheels and a chrome mash grille. Number 6 was recently sold at the AML/Bonhams 2003 auction for a very reasonable £34,500 plus commission.
