VNK 360S, a V540 Vantage (series 1) was for some time, a development vehicle for the Engineering Department. Towards the end of it’s life with AML, it became the test-bed for the Vantage Zagato, otherwise known as a ‘mule’. As much weight as possible was taken out, including the rear seats and a tuned engine was fitted. The car was as quick as a Zagato, probably the fastest standard bodied V8 Vantage ever, and it handled well too.

The Zagato mule was photographed whilst on display at the 1999 40th Anniversary meeting at Donnington Park and then racing during a similar meeting at the same venue in 2000. The only visible external of this unique car are the Zagato style Speedline wheels and the cooling ducts on the bonnet.
