In it's day, this would have been the fastest convertible in the world? This yellow car is one of just
six cars returned to the factory for conversion to Vantage specification with the 432bhp
(V580X) engine, power bulge and original lights and grille. The photograph on
the left was taken in the factory service department during the factory open day in 1995.
In a few cars, the conversion was taken still further with the engine
capacity increased to 6.3 litre (by Works Service) and in one case, the R.S.Williams 7.0 litre (pictured
at the bottom of this page).
Is it just my eyes or is the styling of the Vantage Volante more settled and attractive than the coupe. How fast? who knows, but certainly in excess of 180mph and 0-60 in under 5 seconds. |
