Aston |
Taken from the name of Aston Hill in Buckinghamshire. The founders of Aston Martin, Lionel Martin and Robert Bamford had great success in hillclimbing before the Great War and decided to use the name for their new car. An added advantage is that it begins with 'A' so the model appears very near the top of any alphabetical list of cars. | |
| Atom | A prototype car designed and built during World War 2. After driving the Atom, David Brown decided to buy Aston Martin in 1947. The chassis of the Atom became the basis of the DB1 through to the DB Mark III. | |
