The GTA was introduced alongside the GT at the 2002 Birmingham Motor Show with a 5 speed Touchtronic gearbox
and with the engine in standard 420 bhp tune. Apparently, the
Touchtronic gearbox is unable to cope with the additional power of the full
GT engine. Other than the gearbox, engine specification and badging, the GTA is otherwise identical to the GT.
Above is pictured a GTA together with the factory Vanquish at Newport Pagnell
in May 2003. The other pictures were taken at the AMOC open day at the Gaydon
Facility during what appears to be pre-delivery inspections. The GTA is an even rarer car than the GT,
with only 112 ever built; 60 of which were sold on the UK market and 17 for the
USA. |
