Saturday - the start of the Race

Traditionally, the race starts at 4pm, but for 2007, this was pulled forward to 3pm on account of the French Elections. The grid of 54 cars take the rolling start, among them are 15 in the GT1 class, of which there are six DBR9's. After the first hour, GT1 is lead by AMR 009 and 007 closely chased by Corvette 63 and teh Larbre Aston, 008. At a little after 16.00 rain starts and despite the slippry conditions, the works DBR9's stay on slick tyres circulating behind the safety car. By 19.00, DBR9's occupy five of the top six positions in GT1; the track is drying out and the lap times tumble.

At a quarter distance the light fades with 009, 007 and Corvette 63 lead GT1 with only 40 seconds between them.
